(Game Worn)

Please enjoy this beautifully restored 1965 Ohio State University helmet made by MacGregor. This helmet has the distinctive wide red strip of exterior helmet padding which was worn by all team members. In the 1970's when sophisticated helmet safety testing was introduced it was discovered that this exterior padding caused more injuries than it prevented and it was outlawed  for college use. HELMET HUT originally owned two of these rare beauties. We recently donated one of them to the college football Hall Of Fame in South Bend, Indiana where it proudly sits on display.
