Many people think the Cowboys/Redskins rivalry started in the Allen years. Sam Huff and Don Meredith had a running feud with Huff frequently breaking Meredith's nose. Eventually Meredith went with a two bar mask and "U" nose protector. He went to a full cage when that didn't help.
