Buffalo Bills

1963 Daryle Lamonica
(game worn)

As a rookie for the Bills in 1963 Daryle wore this Riddell model "TK-5" helmet. It features the "tru kurv" rounded shell and a six point suspension. His playing number is crudely hand written in black marker on the back of the helmet which was the procedure for that year. If you look close you will see that the eye of the Buffalo logo is tear shaped rather than perfectly round as seen in later years logos. There is slight chipping of the original factory paint. It was necessary for Riddell to paint every new helmet back then including helmets that needed to be white because the color of the bare impregnated plastic shell was an unattractive yellowish hue.
