Even though the Birmingham Americans won the only WFL championship "World Bowl I" and were the most successful team in the league, they still could not over come the financial pressures that every franchise encountered.  Entering stage left ... the 1975 Vulcans.   This team also, under new management were extremely successful and as the WFL folded that season there were attempts by Birmingham and Memphis to join the NFL for the 1976 season.  This made perfect sense, these two teams had or signed many of the NFL's greatest stars.  Larry Csonka, Jim Kiick, Paul Warfield, Ken Stabler and LC Greenwood were just a few.
