Graduating from Evergreen High School in Vancouver, Washington, Jerry Inman
attended Boise JC and was named a Junior College All American as an active
250-pound defensive tackle. He played two varsity years at the University Of
Oregon with All Conference recognition as a senior in 1965. In a lackluster
season, the Inman-fortified defense allowed more than two touchdowns in only
three games. Drafted by the Denver Broncos as a "future choice" after his
junior year, he played effectively from 1966 through the 1971 season. He
missed the entire 1972 season with a severe knee injury but battled back to
appear in eight games in '73. Joining the Portland Storm for the final twelve
games of the 1974 World Football League season, he was an immediate starter
and led the team with eight quarterback sacks. Inman returned for the 1975
season, and insured that his number 79 remained in the starting lineup until
the premature termination of the season.
