With out question, this is one of the 4 prototype Washington Ambassador helmets made back in January of 1974. The samples were crudely painted and built from pre 1970 Riddell Microfit helmets for the prospected team and media events. We have been fortunate to see two of these rare helmets and spoke with the gentleman's family who created these prototypes. Along with this helmet we were able to find by digging around in boxes at an old Redskins reconditioner, two original Ambassadors decals, designed by D.W. on January 14, 1974. A special find that only a few may really appreciate, and you know who you are.
