"New School" Guys & "Old School" Helmet on ESPN
For the last several weeks the standard fare at most NFL team
headquarters has been endless cups of coffee and pizza delivery as scouts,
coaches and general managers burned the midnight oil preparing for
Saturday's NFL draft. Consequently, it seemed quite apropos that ESPN
combined the "crème" of the 2005 draft with a little "sweetener" from
Helmet Hut on the set of its morning sports show "Cold Pizza" the day
before the annual event.
It was "something old -- something new" as future NFL stars, Ronnie
Brown (Auburn), Braylon Edwards (Mich.), Aaron Rodgers (Cal.), Antrel
Rolle (Miami) and Alex Smith (Utah), were interviewed all standing around
a table that proudly featured the customized "Cold Pizza" vintage
suspension helmet. This helmet, which is now used as part of the show's
set design, was presented to "Cold Pizza" by Helmet Hut when they
aired a feature on the Helmet Hut phenomenon.
In response to the growing popularity of customized vintage
helmets such as this, Helmet Hut has now made it possible for its readers
to design their very own vintage helmet by visiting Helmet Hut's exclusive
webstore
"Gridiron Memories" (see "Build Your Own Helmet").
Although these young men are currently more associated with the modern
era / high tech headgear that they have been wearing each Saturday they
each may have a classic "old school" suspension helmet in their future. In
a few years look for their signatures, as new inductees, on the special
autographed edition of the
Official College Football Hall of Fame vintage
helmet.
