For the Army game, the Navy players surprised their fans and classmates as they entered the field with helmets that were dark navy blue which caused a stir. Unfortunately, the new headgear did not stymie the Army attack that featured “Lonely End” Bill Carpenter, Heisman Trophy winner HB Pete Dawkins, and Army’s other back Bob Anderson. Navy’s season ended with a 6-3 record as they were bested by this terrific Army team, 22-6.
