Even back in 1955 Sonny hated his chin strap.  When speaking with him we asked why he rarely wore it, he said scrunching up his chin "who wants to wear that thing?"  Good enough for us!  This is the "RT" Riddell shell with leather wrapped jaw pads and 6 point suspension.  The painted one inch stripes show the beautiful 32 hole ventilation system.  The two tone leather chin strap is not visible on Sonny's gamer but you can see the detail in the stitching on the reproduction.  This helmet was built for Sonny to be put in his private helmet collection that we are proud to be a part.   By the way, Sonny was one of those 60 minute men in college, he played on both sides of the line and wore numbers 18 and 38.  Thanks Brionski!
