Buffaloes
(Authentic Reproduction)
Crowder reintroduced
a Buffalo horn type of design to the helmets, using the gold shell and
stripping it of its stripes and numerals. He added thick-profile black buffalo
horn logos that again allowed CU to have a very distinctive appearance. The
4-6 record came as a result of graduation losses and a subsequent lack of
depth but talent abounded. Bob Anderson was named All Conference at QB,
setting a Big Eight total offense record of 2128 yards. Much of that yardage
came behind big Mike Montler at center, a two-time All Conference performer
who was named All American for '68 who went onto play for the Patriots, Bills,
and Broncos in a ten year pro career. FB was manned by soph Ward Walsh and HB
Steve Engel contributed 491 rushing yards.
